John Ferneley College at Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire has been named “Building of the Year” in the 2010 ProCon (Property and Construction) Awards scheme. The award was presented at a dinner at the Walker Stadium, Leicester on 11 November.

Accepting the award on behalf of White Design, project architect Nick James said:

"This is a wonderful recognition of the teamwork that produced such an individual and popular building - the design and construction team and the school community were all committed to working together to deliver a truly sustainable building that works so well for the school and local community."

Completed in April 2010 for client Leicestershire County Council with Willmott Dixon Construction and Integral Engineering Design, the £15.5m college provides places for 800 secondary school students on a 14.4 acre site.

The ProCon organisation was founded in 2000 by Leicestershire County Council with the support of  the major construction and law firms in the county. Now in their eighth year of operation, the ProCon Awards celebrate the excellence and dynamism of the property and construction industries in Leicestershire.
