White Design was delighted to be involved in the Kingswood Sustainable school design challenge last month at UWE.

The Kingswood partnership is a national flagship for 14-19 students offering access to over 100 traditional and vocational courses. Organised by Kingswood’s business links manager Ronnie Ward the Sustainable School Design challenge workshop gave students the chance to engage with the build environment and sustainability concepts and processes.

Each group of students worked with a professional Architect, Engineer, Project Manager or Energy Consultant to design a new DT block for Forest School. The team had to consider the design of the new building and how it could be environmentally sustainable both physically and socially.

The workshop brought together creative design work, knowledge of alternative energy production, awareness of the embodied energy of materials and how we can behave in the built environment lessening our impact.

We look forward to contributing to Kingswood Partnership’s next event ‘AMBITIONS 2012’  in October.
